Travel Guide | 10 days in Portugal

Travel Guide | 10 days in Portugal. A 10 day trip through many of the beautiful cities of Portugal.
Hi guys!!
How is your week going so far?
As you can see from today’s post title, I will be sharing a travel guide in my beautiful country, Portugal.

I know Lisbon is super trendy nowadays, and it totally deserves that, but Portugal is way more than Lisbon. And I always like to show more of the country with whoever reads this blog. It has always been one of my main reasons to have this blog, in the first place.
Now, before I continue, a little disclosure:

If you follow my blog for a while now, most of the places mentioned won’t be new to you, as I wrote about them in previous posts; some, many years ago, others more recently.
Another thing to mention is that some of the photos used in this post are very old so you may notice a bit of quality drop compared to the latest posts.

Transportation:

There are two main options to get you from one city to another: by car or by bus.
I have tried, and recommend, as a tourist to use the express bus network. There are plenty of buses and tickets are generally speaking quite affordable.
I have used the Rede Expressos bus services and never had any issues. Please visit their website for ticket & schedule info.

Now, let’s get to traveling, shall we?

1. Braga

Start off your Trip in Braga!
This city has a great vibe and it feels very young and alive. I personally love it! While in Braga, we visited many of its monuments and ate fantastic food (which will be a given fact in any of the cities mentioned in this guide!).

2. Guimarães

The city of Guimarães will bring you to where it all started for Portugal! Its’ historical center is so rich that you will have your days filled with something to see.
A couple must-sees are:
  • Historic Center (certified as a World Cultural Heritage site by UNESCO back in 2001)
  • Cable car trip to Santuário da Penha.

3. Viseu

Viseu stole our hearts! From the moment we arrived at the hotel we stayed in, everything was great about this city. And like in Braga, Viseu, felt a super young, vibrant and fun city to visit.
Take my word, and go visit it!

On these posts, I showed quite a lot and shared some useful information about restaurants, hotels, and sights to see. Check them out:

4. Guarda

Surrounded by beautiful mountains of Serra da Estrela, it is a chill and relaxing, yet with enough historical monuments to keep you busy.
What you want to do here is to visit the Sé and go to its rooftop, and take a walk to the highest spots you can find (preferably, the Castle tower), in order to appreciate its surroundings.

5. Coimbra

Oh, Coimbra… I do not know how to describe Coimbra in words. I seriously have a hard time doing so.
Coimbra is so so so beautiful, and with its academic traditions, one of the most beautiful libraries in the World and one of the oldest Universities in Europe, it will keep you busy for several days.

  1. I love historical places and learning about the story of the place in the old times, so I think I'll really enjoy a visit to Guimaraes 😀 I hope I can go to Portugal someday ^^
