Once upon a time....

..... I started to read this book. Most probably over 2 years since I first opened.
It's one of the many books I own from this Portuguese writer (which is also a journalist amd teacher), called José Rodrigues dos Santos.
I'm a super fan of his writing (but not of his work as news host...) and books. At the moment, I can't remember how many of them I own. Most are still in Porty-land though....
But I gotta be honest, this is by far the one I like the least of all.
The story takes too long to evolve and it has too much details for my taste, especially when the story is during WW1. Not my thing!
Nevertheless, I don't want to give up on it and will continue reading it! Let's just hope it doesn't take two more years to finish it...

Every time, I see a guy passing by wearing a pair of trousers/jeans like the ones on the picture bellow, I wonder:
Do they know what underwear means?!?!

Here's the definition, for free of charge!! :D

Clothes worn next to the skin, beneath one's outer clothing. Also called underclothes, underclothing.

This means, that you should keep it beneath your pants, jeans or short pants. Easy and clear. ;-)

Now guys please, wear your pants properly!!! What's the fun about seeing their underwear?!... I don't get it but maybe it's because I'm from a different time.
Also, who on Earth thinks this looks nice?? Can someone explain?

Big in Japan

If you are a tea/coffee lover, you know how important is to have a good mug to keep your tea/coffee nicely warm for a while.
I personally, like to have tea as a long drink, meaning drinking it slowly. If I pour it into a regular mug, most probably, it will be cold after a few minutes. Not nice!

So, I was very surprised when I got this lovely cup as a Christmas gift. Here's a little description:

The double-walled titanium cup consists of two thin walls of titanium, and this attractive item is made of titanium, a strong and safe material. These items are vacuum sealed, keeping hot things hot, and cold things cold for many hours.Even when placing ice inside, condensation will not form on the outer surface.Ice will remain longer and not dilute beverages quickly. The cup edge is thin, ensuring smooth contact with your mouth when drinking.
The SUS Tianium Vacuum Cup joins tradition with advanced technology. The rough exterior is that of traditional Japanese pottery, but made from titanium, a cutting-edge material. The snow-like, crystalline surface pattern is produced by our unique and sophisticated manufacturing technique. (...) Our products are meant to stimulate all five senses with a unique texture to touch, the sound of ice cubes against the cup walls, the taste and aroma of your beverage, all while being pleasing to the eye. This unique titanium vacuum cup has been patented.

Here's how it looks:

This will probably be my most use cup for the upcoming times... :)

Adventures in the kitchen #4

The other day, I noticed that there were two lonely old bananas lying on the kitchen table waiting to be eaten. I don't want this to sound discrimination towards them, but once bananas get old, no one seems to like them anymore...
Just like this one! whahaha

So, I decided to give them a good use and made a Banana&Choco Cake!
Well, It was a success because there's hardly anything left.
I totally recommend this one, super easy, fast and tasty!

What will you need:

  • 125g flour
  • 125g sugar
  • 1 tea spoon of baking powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 smashed bananas
  • Chocolate powder (use as much as you like)
  • 50g melt butter
How to:
  1. Mix the sugar and eggs until you get a nice cream texture.
  2. Add the smashed bananas, and stir it well.
  3. Add the melt butter once it has cooled down a bit.
  4. Mix the flour, the baking powder and chocolate powder all together and slowly add it to the creamy mix.
  5. Make sure your oven is pre-heated and let it stay in the oven for approx. 40min at 190C degrees.
This is what's left.... :)

Rise and shine

I heard or read this sentence so many times that I could not count them anymore, even if I wanted.
Lately, it's just more then"another" sentence.

Today is the day

That it'd be very handy to have a sponsor for handkerchiefs...

I foresee a lovely day ahead.... Hopefully I can keep my nose by the end of today!

My 28th year in pictures

As off today, I'm officially living my last year during my 20's...
Not a big deal for some, but for me, it's quite "shocking" to realize that this decade is almost over.
Nothing we can do about it, so let's just get the best out of this year and make it a great warm up for my 30's.

So many things happened during this last year, so here's a little review of my year, in pictures!

T-L: Jan - Snowy day in Nijmegen
T-R: Mar - The best show I went during 2013 (and probably ever!)
B-L: Apr - Best book I read during 2013
B-R: May - Pic-Nic season kicked off and met these sweeties in M-town.
T-L: Jun - 1st time at the beach!!! <3 Sesimbra!
T-R: Jul - Vacation time in lovely BCN!!
B-L: Aug - Rediscovered my passion for baking cakes!
B-R: Sep - Visited Luxembourg for the 1st time and loved it,

T - L: Oct - Visited charming Évora after a very long time. <3!!
B - L: Nov - One of the many sunny days spent in Lisboa. No matter what, it will always be my city!
R - Dec: No white Christmas but still a nice one.

These are just little impressions. My 28th year was very nice but I'm hoping for a much better 29th!!!

So, Happy Birthday to me!!!! :D

Wise words...

Hello 2014!

So, it's been way too long since last time I wrote. The truth is that days were gone so fast that I just didn't find the time to write nor had anything special to write about.

For those who celebrate it, Christmas is somehow pretty much the same all over the place. In the end, we all end up doing the same things and I'm no exception.
When New Year's Eve approaches, a mix of feelings invade our hearts. Some of us always remember the good things that happened during the year that it's about to end but others, also remember not so good things that might have happened.
NYE it's always bittersweet for me; nevertheless, I always try to get the best out of it. The last one was, again, no exception. It just got more bitter (or bitterer?!...) than usual. But that's life.

If you ever followed Math classes and wonder "why do I need to learn all this crap?" "This is useless!'', well, I've got some news: It is not!
Thanks to math classes, I could even translate a Chocolate Mousse recipe into some cute simple formulas or I could just use the Sinus Curve to describe life in general....
Once you hit the lowest point of a valley, there's no other solution than just start rising up towards a neutral point until you reach once again the max.

So, if you are at the valley, just raise your head up, and think positive! If you happen to be up at the highest point, enjoy it while it lasts! There might be a day that you just start falling down again. But on the bright side: it's an endless cycle: up -> down -> up ->.....

2014: Please BE NICE!
