The sights of a visit to Rome | Part 4

Hello!

Day 3 in Rome; are you ready?
Walked distance = 14.3km.

I could show you many more pictures but then you would see everything that Rome has to offer, but I think it's nice to keep some surprises away and not overload you with pictures! 😊

My recommendations are: good walking shows, 24h public transportation tickets and take breaks every now and then.
You will find authentic and non-turistic places to eat and drink everywhere, as long as you don't look on the busiest streets.

Of course, always keep an eye on your belongings as soon as you see larger amount of people.
And don't be scared if you see TONS of police and army on the streets or guarding the monuments/buildings.
I have to admit that it took me a while to "get used to the idea"... Quite frankly, I think I'm still not.

Enjoy the tour!

The day started at Piazza Spagna - Full with turists...
The Vatican at a far distance on the way to the Villa Borghese park
Water clock in Villa Borghese park
View over  Piazza del Popollo
Monument to Vittorio Emanuelle II
Old Roman City at Foro Romano - 1
Old Roman City at Foro Romano - 2
The Coloseum by day
All photos taken with Sony a6000 💖

Hope you have enjoyed the tour throughout our 3rd day in this beautiful city.
I fell in love!

The sights of a visit to Rome | Part 3

Hello!!

Ready for part 3?
Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride! 😎

We took the subway to the Vatican city and later on back to Rome.
As I mentioned on Part 1, we did not go for visits inside the monuments because time was limited and the lines were huge!
Something for on a second visit to Rome.
Enjoy our second day:

Saint Peter's Square - 1
Saint Peter's Square - 2
Sistine Chapel
The view towards old Rome from the Lungotevere Castello
Book fair and Saint Angelo Castle
Trevi Fountain
The Pantheon
All photos taken with Sony a6000.

Walked distance = 12km.
Totally recommend you to take subway and buses anytime you can, especially if you are not in town for long. Consider to get a 24h ticket, for 7Eur, which is valid for subway + tram + bus. You are entitled to take as many rides as you wich within the 24h after purchasing the ticket.
Even though there are only two subway lines, it is quite easy to move around in the city.
But, if you intend to visit the old historical center, count on your feet and buses!

52 Week Photo Challenge - Week #8

Hello!

If you could, would you look back in the past and change something?
Or would you rather forget about it and take it as it was?

The truth is, regardless of your or mine preference might be, the past is what makes us now, in our present, and in one way or another it will determine our future.
Sounds obvious, but not until long ago I had not realized so.
We are a consequence of what we did, thought, lived, experienced and most of all, learned from our past.

But if I could, I would rather take a sneak peek into the Future!
Not like the girl (which is not me!) in the photo below, who, in my eyes, was looking right into the Old Roman City, and didn't even realized it.

What would you do?
Look into the Future or go back to the Past?

The sights of a visit to Rome | Part 1

Hello!!!

[PT - texto no final da pagina]

Just before Valentine's day, I had the opportunity to spend a couple of days in beautiful Rome!!
It was my first time in Italy, so Rome seemed a good way to start.
Now, let's make things clear: the main reason why I wanted to go to Rome was not the Colosseum, the Vatican or any other landmarks.
I will be honest with you; I wanted to go to Italy (any city would actually be ok) because I simply love Italian food!
Yes... I admit; the travel was because of the food! 😄

But when the opportunity arose (aka cheap flights!), we booked a few days in Rome, but unlike any other trips, this time no preparations were done, in terms of what to see, where to go for food and that kind of stuff.

The goal was:  let's see what we can find!

Now a few facts:

  • Rome is a very interesting city; History is all around!
  • It can become expensive, if you do not read the small letters on menus or do not go outside the "touristic" areas.
  • If you want to visit all main landmarks you may need a week; not just because they are in large number but also due to long waiting lines... If you know me a bit by now, you guess what I (we) did. 😉
  • If you like authentic food, not necessarily fancy: this is the place!
  • Like coffee? You're in for a treat!
  • Get some proper walking shoes and prepare yourself to walk several km a day.
  • Getting to the city center from the airport is very easy! Totally recommend the Leonard Express train, in case you are arriving at Fiumicino airport. Check here for more info.
We were veeeeery fortunate with the weather; sunny days with temperatures around 15/16C, in mid February! 💛

I have taken so many pictures, that I honestly had a hard time selecting just a few.
Count on a few posts with MORE pictures from Rome!

Have you ever been to Rome?
What were your thoughts about it?
Let me know in the comments!
Sony a6000 | Photo by me

Deixo agora alguns factos:

52 Week Photo Challenge - Week #7

Hello!!!

[versão em PT no final da pagina!]

Passion

Right on the week where love is so widely celebrated, found this one very appropriate for week #7.
But passion doesn't have to be just for someone. And it shouldn't!
Passion, along with dreams, should drive our lives.
Keep us going.

Be passionate about life and all it comes with it!

Travel wishlist | My Top 10 travel destinations (and a bonus!)

Hello!

[PT text available - scroll down]

I love to travel.
Get to know new places, the feeling of discovery, hear new languages, eat new foods, see different face features.

It doesn't surprise me; after all, Portuguese people have this hunger for discovery in our blood; nostalgic, but always adventurous.
And I am no exception.

For this year (and in general), I will make the effort to travel as much as I possibly can. I want it and need it!
Obviously, travelling is not a cheap thing to do, but I will try to do it without going overboard, and I am sure with some proper planning, it will be possible. I would like to think so.

Therefore, here is a list of the  TOP 10+1 places I would like to visit in the near future and also within the next 2-3 years:

Venice
Sardinia
Santorini
Berlin
Copenhagen
Oslo
San Francisco
Chicago
Jamaica
Japan
Australia + New Zeeland

And that's it! As you can see I need a whole life time and also to win the lottery! haha

Do you also like to travel?
What are your dream destinations?

[PT]
Adoro viajar.

Quero e preciso!

LOL

E vocês, gostam de viajar?
Quais os vossos destinos de sonho?

See you soon!
Até breve!

52 Week Photo Challenge - Week #6

Hello!

Maastricht, the city where an important treaty was signed, 25 years ago.
A piece of paper, where words of unity  were written and signed off.

Where did it lead us?
Are we united?
Where do we go from here?
Should we let it all fall and forget what once brought so many countries to wish to be together?

It's not because the way is rocky, that we should drop it all out!

In these times when Europe is constantly being put to test, and America is going through what we all know, we must stand together and be a strong Union!
More than just GDPs, debt limits, and all that financial stuff.

We, as citizens of one of the countries belonging to this Union, should value the pro's of it and not always focus on the con's.
Bad thoughts lead us nowhere.

I am a Portuguese, living in the Netherlands, working in Germany, travelling all over the place.
I can never be against being part of EU! Never!

Let's all walk together for a better and stronger Union.

[ENG: Via translation tool 😉]

Sim, leram bem, €39.98!!!

52 Week Photo Challenge - Week #5

Hello!!!

Perspective [noun]
- The art of representing three-dimensional objects on a two-dimensional surface so as to give the right impression of their height, width, depth and position in relation to each other.
- A particular way of regarding something; a point of view.
- An apparent spatial distribution in perceived sound

Week 5/52

"See me from your point of view" - ⒸMiss B
As we face certain things in life, we may have to distant ourselves from it in order to understand them. Or maybe try to see them from other points of view. Sometimes, this is easier said than done.
One can only try his/her best to do so.

Just like I did with this flower.
When I look at this photo, I see an upset Chinese dragon. But in the end, it's just a red flower (I don't know its correct name, sorry), hanging on a building facade, in charming Cascais, Portugal.

What do you see?
How well can you handle different points of view? In times like the current ones, I think it becomes more and more important to be able to do this.

January recap - facts, numbers and thoughts

Hello there!!

So, we've got an extra post this week! 🎆

January just ended and I must say that it was a good month; busy, chaotic, fun, with more blogging than before, more social media interaction, more followers, more feedback, more, more....

If I would select the word of the month, it would have to be "more".

As I previously said, I do not write for the numbers, but it does feel very good to have more feedback, more interaction with fellow bloggers and honestly, be more active with this fun hobby of mine.
Blogging is a hobby for me! And I intend to keep it that way, which does not mean it is easier than any "pro-blogger".
What it actually means is that, most of my free time is taken by blogging related activities.
Do I mind it? No! Once I get in the flow, it becomes even more interesting and fun, I must say.

So yeah, one of my goals for 2017 was to find (actually, make) the time for my hobbies, and so far, I think I'm doing well. Only the work-out item is not 100% yet... #notetoself

But let's get back to the subject of this post: January recap!

I would really like you, reader/follower/visitor, to keep coming back and leave your feedback on the comments section.
From this side of the screen, let me tell you that there is more in the pipeline! 😉

This month, a Facebook page was finally created  (haven't you noticed?!); there I share my latest  blog posts, blog related activities or preps. If you will, give it a Like:

In summary:
  • More than 21k total page views
  • Almost 100 likes on FB
  • More than 30 followers on GFC (google friends)
  • Your favorite post was "24 hours in Portugal": Read again
  • 10 posts were published this month: Stories of this month

This may not be a big deal for some people, but to me, it means a LOT!

I just hope February will be as nice as January or, maybe, even better!

Feel free to spread the word, share the blog, like it on FB and/or follow via the several social media platforms (all available on the side bar).

From my side; I can only promise to keep up with the schedule of at least 2 posts a week (Monday + Thursday @ 9am CET), and when time allows, I will write some more.

It's fun to have a hobby and have the opportunity to share it with so many people!

Thank you | Obrigada!!!

See you very soon!
