Also make sure to warm up and stretch afterwards.

Clash of Titans #3

Well, well, it has been ages since my last Clash of Titans edition!
Today, is a funny one.
Left: Netherlands, July 2014
Right: Portugal, early 2014
Of course, this is just an illustration, but I could not help myself to share this one.
Both pictures taken after serious raining, on in the Netherlands, the other one in Porty-land. :-D

The way people react to the same situation is just hilarious. With this said, I'm sure that in the Netherlands they also did some rescue stuff, but just to have the idea of lying on an inflatable bed, in the middle of the street, it's another way of showing the Dutch humor. :-)

Who do you think should win the Clash? I vote for the Dutchies!

Enfim....

Bom dia!

It's smoothie o'clock!! :-)

Due to high demand, I'm here to share the recipes of two amazing smoothies!
Yep, I love smoothies and can't help it. :-)
It's just an easy, fast and tasty way of eating fruit & drink milk/yogurt; two things I tend to neglect. So, if you are like me, please give it a try to these two babies: I can guarantee that you won't regret!

Beauty | Sigma Spa Glove

Since I first got my very first make-up brushes (by Sigma, actually), I started looking for a perfect way to clean them. Truth to be told, I was never very keen on it, which is quite a shame.
Anyway, as the amount of brushes started to grow, the need for the perfect method in terms of time consuming and actually cleaning efficiency, became almost a mission impossible!
Until Sigma released the so famous Sigma Spa Brush Cleaning Glove
I lost count how many reviews I read or movies I watched about this glove; it sounded a good thing to have but the price was never in its favor.
But the time as come, and I finally ordered my Sigma Spa Glove from a Dutch webshop called The MakeUpSpot. This way, I didn't have to pay import tax, which always happens if I order something from the USA (where Sigma is located).
But let's get to business; here's the Sigma Spa Brush CleaningGlove!

The packaging is very minimal, but efficient; it includes some instructions on how to clean your brushes in 5 steps.
There are two different sides: Face and Eyes.
Each of them have 3 sections: Rinse, Wash and Refine. Plus, there's another section, Shape, in between thumb and the rest of the glove.
The packaging and instructions.
They all have different structures to improve the cleaning, as face brushes are usually bigger and more dense than eye brushes.
Left: Face brushes side
Right: Eyes brushes side
My first experience with this glove is nothing but positive!!
I could clean 34 brushes in 50 minutes!!! That's an average of 1.47 min/brush!!!
Here's a little Before&After of a blush brush, for some enlightenment:
Before                                            After
Now, if I compare this with the previous method (use the palm of my hand....), this Glove is a major improvement in every way; the brushes get cleaner, the process is faster and my hands don't get dirty!!! :-)
What else can you ask for???

Another good thing about this glove is that it's made out of silicone and it has an inner cotton glove for your own comfort. Pretty nice, if you ask me!
They are available in 4 colors: black, aqua (like mine), pink and purple.
In the USA they are available for $35, but I bought mine for €39.95 via The MakeUpSpot.
The service is great; if ordered before 4pm, it will be at your place the very next day (Sunday excluded!).

I honestly, recommend this, if you are a bit lazy about cleaning up your brushes (guilty!!!) and don't want to spend a whole lot of time doing it.

Adventures in the kitchen #14

Hello there!!!

Who's ready for a super delicious desert recipe??
This was the very first time I made a Panna Cotta and of course, it had to be strawberry! :-) I just love strawberries...
Anyway, to make this, you need time, because to get to the final result, you have to do it in three steps and wait until they are firm enough. But here is the ingredients list:

Beauty | Nail polishes - Summer loves

Summer has started a few weeks ago, but over here it hardly feels like summer.
Nevertheless, I think it's about time share the nail polishes I'm more enthusiastic about to wear during this summer.
Alert: all bright colors!!! :-D
Without further due, here they are:
Left and bottom right pictures no flash. Upper right picture with flash.

1 - p2 Color Victim 790 Summer to go! (3 coats + TopCoat)
2 - Catrice Ultimate Nail Laquer 830 Salmon & Garfunkel (3 coats + TopCoat)
3 - p2 Color Victim 740 Electric (2 coats + TopCoat)
4 - Essie 472 A List (2 coats + TopCoat)
5 - Catrice Ultimate Nail Laquer 790 The Pink And The Brain (2 coats + TopCoat)
6 - Essie 249 Go Ginza (2 coats + TopCoat)
7 - KIKO nail laquer 331 (light lavander) (2 coats + TopCoat)
8 - KIKO nail laquer 340 (baby blue) (2 coats + TopCoat)

Price Range:
- p2 1,49Eur
- Catrice 2,49Eur
- KIKO 2,50Eur
- Essie 7,5Eur

I notice that there is no green color in the selection, but I prefer dark/emerald greens and therefore, more suitable for Fall/Winter.
Most of them, last very long on my nails (as long as I don't wash the dishes every day...), but only if I apply Top Coat. At the moment, I have been using Seche Vite because it dries fast (2-3min) and leave the nails with a great glossy finish.

What are your favorite polishes for summer? :-)

R.I.P.

This overload of news or speculations on the MH17 disaster is really overwhelming....
What started as "another" Malaysian airlines accident has become a political issue.
Even though not involving any follow Portuguese people, I do feel the pain of my fellow Dutchies.
The pictures that are online are devastating and shocking.... You do not need to see kids, with their heads smashed on the ground while still sitting on their seats.... There is no need for this!
Along side with finding the responsible people for this massacre, it should not be forgotten that hundreds of families are dealing with an immense grieve and loss.

Regardless of how many people from each country died, they are equally tremendous losses for their family, friends, colleagues.... Regardless if they were amazing scientists going to a conference or just random people travelling back home. Business class or Economy class, makes no difference in this situation!

The idea that innocent people died, in such a stupid way it's devastating.... It gets even worse if you are traveler yourself or if you've got loved ones who travel the world, pretty much constantly...
Knowing that nowadays no one is safe anywhere, it's almost taken as part of our daily lives, and knowing that flying isn't as safe as they say, it's also in my mind frequently, but this all gets worse if you have to start counting on which areas is your flight going to fly over... As if now, we all need to be some sort of "flight route planners" when planning a vacation or something.

Even though I want to let this go; it's all over the place... It's just impossible!

I do not believe in any God therefore I send no prayers, but my thoughts are with those who are affected by tragedy.

The Netherlands is grieving and it was for sure a very sad day for all of us in a certain way.

May all these people rest in peace and hopefully their bodies will be handled properly.

Saudades; Yes or No?

If you don't speak Portuguese, please use the Translation tool in the side bar.

Tenho, e muitas.
Se tenho saudades do Sol e do clima?

Beauty | New In

So, we do beauty post today, instead on Sunday. Why? Because I've got really cool things that I'd like to share with my fellow beauty lovers out there! ;-)

What was in the basket:
Pictures from Google. Collage by me.
-   Davidoff CoolWater 100ml
I'm not that kind of person who has 99999 different perfumes. I only wear one perfume at the time; for me a perfume defines your scent, sort of a trademark. And since a few years, CoolWater it's been mine! Despite the price, I love everything about it!

-   The POREfessional Full size:
This one has become a favorite of mine and a must-have, so I had to get the full size. Here you can find my thoughts on it.

-    Real Techniques Stippling Brush:
I have heard so many people raving about this brush, which made me curious, so I finally decided to give it a try. Still find 15Eur quite expensive for a brush, if you ask me... It seems to be perfect for cream blushes or any other cream products. Soon a review on this!

-    Sinful Colors nail polish #265 Rich in Heart:
A rich dark red/burgundy color, shimmer finish. I can foresee this will be a good one for the Fall. The first polish I own for this brand.

-    MUA Lipstick Trio in Siren:
I didn't try anything of this brand before as it's very new over here. Curious how pigmented these are. Plus: cheap!

-    Essence XXXL lipgloss Matt Effect 05 Velvet Rose:
I hardly wear lipgloss, but I do like matt finish. This one seemed "work appropriated". Need to give it a few more tries before I make up my mind about it.

-    Essence eyebrow designer pencil 02 Brown:
This is my 1st brow product! *shocking* I'm curious how it works. The idea is to use just to fill in the gaps, as my brows are already thick enough. Hopefully this isn't a super dark color for me....

And that was it! My last purchases; 2 of them essentials, 1 brush that I was very curious about and the rest..... well, the rest was a bit of a treat for myself. :-D

What are your must haves?!

Here it comes....

.... the SUN!!!!

Smoothie alert!!!

Hey there!!!

What do you do when you've got some fruit that's getting too soft?!
I usually use it for cakes or smoothies; I can't stand the idea of throwing food away.... Might have something to do with the pictures I saw from kids in Africa when I was about 4/5 years and didn't want to eat my meals. Mamma: Obrigada!

Last Saturday, I decided to use some of the fruit, lingering around, for an healthy, though quick and easy, breakfast. Of course, I cannot put my coffee aside! I need to have coffee for breakfast.

How to:

- 1/2 mango shopped in cubes;
- 3 apricots;
- Yogurt;
- Milk;
- Strawberries
- 1 tbs Oatmeal (next time I'll skip this....)

Put all this in the blender (except the strawberries) and blend! :-) Add as much milk as you want, until you reach the consistency you like.

I loved it!!! Easy, fresh, quick and full of vitamins; a perfect start of you day. Could easily do this on a working day......... If I'd wake up early enough! whahahaha

I hope you enjoy this one. ;-)

DIY #3 | Canvas

Early this Spring, I felt the urge to change our living room; I knew it needed some color to brightened things up and give it an extra touch.
I also knew it could not be too much or it could easily cross that thin line between cozy&fun and totally cheesy.

On the other hand, I'm not the most creative person out there or let's say, not when it comes to art-related things. Back in the day, art class or drawing class (which were mandatory) were always the most difficult subject for me. I just never had it; you know.

Anyway, I got a set of white canvas, some paint and brushes (which turned out to be crap...) and searched on the internet for cool DIY ideas. Result: Overwhelming!!
I mean, if you are somehow skilled for this stuff, I'm sure it'd be a lot less scary. Some things looked "easy" but I think that's due to the artist that made it to look so simple. Never let yourself be deceived by the looks...

Beauty | Wink wink

Hey there!!!

On today's Beauty post, I would like to talk about the Maybelline mascaras I tried so far (and still had the tubes lying around! haha).
For starters, my lashes are super straight and they don't hold curls that well. So, any mascara that promises curling properties is automatically on my "to try list".
I also like to have some volume and extra length. Basically, I want it all! whahaha
Curl + Length + Volume = happy me!

You may say: try false lashes! Well, I never did that... I'm afraid of an allergic reaction to the glue or that I won't be able to fix it properly or that I can't find the right type of lashes.
So, if you have any advises please let me know in the comment section.

Okay, now on to today's post!
Here are the mascara's I still had around:
From Left to Right:
-  The One by One Volum' Express Satin Black
-  The Colossal Volum' Express 100% Black
-  The One by One Volum' Express
-  Big Eyes Volum' Express
-  The Rocket Volum' Express waterproof

(A)   My favorite: The Rocket Volum' Express Waterproof
(B)   My least favorite: Big Eyes Volum' Express

Considerations:

The reason why (A) became my favorite is that, its brush and formula, does what I need to my lashes, without giving it clumps or whatsoever! The lashes stay curled the whole day due to the waterproof formula. It gives me length as well! It's just a great mascara if you have lashes like mine. The minus of this mascara is that it's very difficult to remove. You really need a dual phase eye make up remover! (this could be a future post!)
Top: Wand for upper lashes Bottom: Wand for lower lashes
On the other hand, the reason why I hate (B) is actually because it does the opposite of (A) in every way! It does not curl my lashes, the brush for the upper lashes is pretty much crap! The lashes will get a whole lot of clumps and in the end you end up with a 3-lash-eye-look. I don't like it at all!! The only "not so bad" part is the side specified for the lower lashes; the brush is tiny and does not carry that much product.
But to me, it's just not practical to have 2 different brushes/formulas for upper and lower lashes. I've got not time for that!

The other 3 mascaras are okay, but I didn't notice anything spectacular about their performance. Perhaps it's my lashes, but they just didn't do anything to me.

Which mascara do you like the most?
Share your thoughts/opinions in the comment section below. I'd love to read them!

Adventures in the kitchen #13

In one of my Pinterest crusades, I came across to this delicious recipe of Chicken with pesto filling!

Super easy and very delicious. I made my own pesto sauce but you can only get it already prepared.

If you want to know how to prepare the chicken, click here for the original recipe.
At the side, we had some fried rice and cherry tomatoes.

If you don't know what to do for tonight's dinner, I totally recommend this one!
Bom apetite!

TBT

(If you are not a Portuguese speaking, please use the Translation tool on the side bar)

Now reading

Hey there!!!

Remember, some time ago, I wrote I was reading a book for over 2 years and did not want to give up on it before I was through the story.
Well, I did!
I could not get further in the story line; everything was taking forever.
So, one of these days, in one my stops to the book shop in town, I spotted something that could keep me entertained for a long time, and without giving up before it's over. hahaha
The problem is that I hardly have time to read, but nevertheless, it's a fun and great book.

Please, don't be scared by the title! :-D

Yep, a nerd-like kind of book but the idea is to give an easy and daily basis approach of Mathematics. Where we can find it on our daily life.
A nice way to demystify the "Math-monster"!
